I am working on a campaign to reduce junk mail and wondering who my target audience should be. I haven’t found any studies online. Does anyone know where I can find this information? I am referring to paper mail, not email.

YES. Proquo. It really does stop junk mail. Do some googles about it. You might even see it in the New York Times. I think it was on there.
It’s free. It basically lets you ‘opt out’ of the major junk mailers. I’ve been a member for almost a year and my junk mail has decreased dramatically.
Funny that. I came in here to be a sarcastic asshole but I actually had the answer to your question. I was gonna say that the biggest recipients of junk mail were pill popping guys with small units who want to meet people locally.
@Emily, I don’t have an answer to your question – just want to let you know this is a real interest of mine too, helping people get off junk mail. I’m guessing you might be doing this as part of your consulting business, but… just wanted to let you know I’m local and interested in supporting you!
@body—not sure if you did answer the question actually : )
You can see our campaign at stopjunkmail.org. @Trusting-- this is one of my consulting gigs, yes : )
Oh, sorry I’m a ass. I thought you were asking for people who do the… well nevermind.
Thanks for posting a link. Sorry about my jackassary. I’ll check it out.
No worries, it’s always great to learn of another resource. In the past we have had a very wide target audience, and we want to narrow it this time around… so I’m trying to figure out who is most likely to receive junk mail. My guess is seniors, though our campaign is online so hard to target some seniors who don’t use the web. Though many do, of course.
Online shoppers! Whenever I make a purchase online, the company starts sending me paper catalogs/sales flyers. I don’t actually mind this because I am a compulsive reader who always runs out of reading material : )
However, I also get tons of junk mail I don’t want, but assume they’re getting my address from the online retailers.
Home buyers. I got a ton of junk mail right after I bought my house.
