Why are my emails delayed? Is there anything I can do about it?

Asked by emilyrose (2277points) December 23rd, 2008

I use yahoo. yeah, I’m old school. I don’t like gmail because there are no folders. Okay, now that that’s out of the way, why are my emails showing up hours after people write them? I am addicted to email and this is troubling : )

It could possibly be that the servers are just junked up and overwhelmed by a lot of traffic. You could just use Gmail, most people have it…you’d just have to adapt to the whole “conversation style” it uses.

Yahoo! is almost always delayed with pretty much anything. Anything I’ve had sent there (such as verification emails) usually took somewhere between five minutes to a few hours to arrive. Services like Gmail and Hotmail are a few of the fastest- most instant.

I suggest finding another e-mail provider :)

I have all 3, all of them seem to be particularly slow these days, which makes sense since most people are at home sending Xmas greetings to each other.
