What are you doing right now for Christmas Eve?
Are you anxiously awaiting a visit from Santa? Spending quality time with Family? Singing Carols?
I am wrapping some last minute gifts, drinking wine, and listening to David Sedaris on NPR with family.

My family and I just watched Jim Carrey’s The Grinch and Batman: The Dark Knight, and now I’m playing some Twilight Princess and waiting for exhaustion to set in.
Earlier this evening, my husband made his famous chili for dinner. My step-son and his girlfriend came for a visit. I read my daughters “The Night Before Christmas” for the 14th straight year. Now, the presents are all wrapped, the tree is lit and the house is quiet. Peace on Earth.
I ate a delicious beef tenderloin dinner with family, and then from 8 pm – 12 am I was working a hospice shift. I just got home about 15 minutes ago and had a couple cookies.
Should be going to bed soon I suppose…
@seekingwolf—You work for hospice? And on Christmas Eve? That is very admirable of you.
@Jane
Oh, I’ve worked hospice for a while (over a year), so yes. I always work the holiday shifts and also in the summer when I’m home from college.
Actually, I really enjoy being there on the holidays, and in general, so I don’t mind! ^^
Well, I just came home from a stint as ‘guest chef’ at a local restaurant. I did a Christmas Eve ‘special menu’ and I am pleased that it went really well. I will be taking over the kitchen after the first of the year and am busy writing new menus etc. between now and then.
Merry Christmas jellies!
Just watched Christmas Vacation with the fam as per tradition and now I am drinking Jack with a beer backer…
Just got home from lessons and carols candlelight worship service at church. It was beautiful.
@ Soapchef—Congratulations! That’s terrific! Good luck with writing new menus and have a great holiday season.
Max and I just got done putting together a five piece drumset! Ahhh yeah. I don’t think the kid has any idea he’s getting it (I only kicked the bass pedal once and tried out the high hat once). I also set out the electric guitar and amp for boy 2. As I’m setting out this musical Christmas, all I kept thinking was,“I must be crazy. I know I’m going to yell at them to stop!”
Nothing. Not doing much of anything with family tomorrow either, so I’m probably going to hang out with a friend who’s visiting while he’s on leave from the Coast Guard. This is kind of the most Un-Christmas Christmas I’ve ever had, even though it’s the whitest Christmas I’ve seen in my life. Go figure.
@DD: Try to enjoy it anyway…wherever you are and whoever you’re with. Merry Christmas : )
Just finished wrapping presents while watching A Christmas Story on TBS.
I am sick. so i’m trying really hard to not cough and I can’t sleep…so i’m here.
Hung out with my neighbor in the snowed-in night. We ate lamb stew and watched a very, very good movie called Rescue Dawn. Then she left with her dog, and my dog and I watched Princess Mononoke. Presents and pie are in rucksacks waiting to be walked up the hill tomorrow so my stepson can pick me up at the mailbox.
Tonight I talked with my grandbaby on the phone. She’s very young. She said “See you morrow, Sisu.” I love her.
i went to my aunt’s step-mother’s house for a few miserable hours, came home and watched hamlet 2 (i LOVE that movie), opened gifts, and now i have no idea why i’m awake. i guess i’ll catch santa…
Playing Blackjack with my grandparents. Playing guitar, and going to midnight mass.
Having lots and lots of latkes.
Ducking bullets at midnight, most likely.
