Limewire seems to suck, any suggestions?
I’m trying to download some music…and I don’t like to buy music if I’m not sure I’m going to like it or not. What would you recommend? I’m running on a Mac.

Frostwire is way better.
You can also download Transmission and team it up with Mininova to download whole albums.
“I only download music to see if I like it”, you’re not fooling anyone! you sleep in a bed of lies!!

I second both queenz suggestion for frostwire but also think you should just ditch it and get transmission. Torrents are where its at yo! :P

Check out Spotify. They have an ad supported free plan. I’m not sure exactly where it’s available at the moment, most of Europe for sure, and the US is coming.
It’s like iTunes (it’s a desktop app for both the Mac and PC), only you have tens of thousands of songs and it plays an occasional radio ad. It’s really fast and you can listen to tracks an unlimited amount of times.
They’re with EMI and a heap of other big labels, so there’s a lot of great stuff on there. Totally legal and really awesome.
You have to be invited to the free plan though, so here’s some invite tokens from me:

First come first served. Don't whore them all to yourself, or I'll come and get you. Enter your code here: https://www.spotify.com/en/invitation/

I use Acqlite. It’s a bit outdated, but works smoothly and cleanly with the aqua interface. Also has the smallest footprint compared to the resource hogging software that is Limewire and Frostwire.
