Fresh pork loin from the hog we received from my hubby’s work. Yams with marshmallows, potato casserole, green beans, rolls and key lime pie.

Chinese food! (I’m on shift today, and we don’t want to wash dishes)

Halibut cheeks cooked with pancetta. Swiss chard as one of the sides, still working on the rest.

It’s always ham and some sides. I’m not a big fan of ham, but it’s the holidays so I eat it and don’t complain. The sides are delicious though. Mmm..

jonsblond forgot to mention the ham roast that’s going in with the pork loin (which spent the evening brining in a garlic, onion, ginger, sugar, and salt bath)

Pancakes and sausage breakfast

We will be having a roast and sides. We usually have ham with all the trimmings, but most of my family won’t be here for the holidays.

the other half of the jelly. And some cookies. I may also open a packet of crisps later if I feel festive :)

Sorry, not my time of year, especially this year. Just thought I’d also add this to the thread so that we get a more complete picture of reality.

@jack: “the other half of….. You ate part of a JELLY???

CANNIBAL ALERT!!!!!

susanc's avatar

paella, salad, apple pie. very traditional. starting this year.

sorry, I didn’t get the joke, I meant jelly as in a transparent sweet, lemon taste. The bottom was actually like a cheesecake (my little trick). I know there is also “jelly fish” but what else does it mean?

And what would you call the thing I ate in the US?

seVen's avatar

Goose , turkey, veggie salads, Cat Fish, flounder, rolls, pierogies, gołąbkis, orange-chocolate cake, ginger bread, polish “sunny cookies”, polish wafers, borshcht, italian sweet bread, coffee, wine, vodka, black currant juice, prune juice, kutia, cabbage with mushrooms, purée beans, etc etc

Rock Cornish hens with summat.
Hooray for tiny birds!

@jack, I knew you meant a dessert, I was teasing. Sometimes we refer to our fluther selves as “jellies” as in “jellyfish” since a “fluther” is a company of jellyfish (or so the Founders tell us).

I think maybe we would call the thing you make, the lemon/cheesecake thing,
a Jello Dessert. American brand-loyalty….. It sounds pretty yummy. Merry Christmas!

Jack79's avatar

Merry Christmas to you too, I never knew “fluther” was a real word. Ok makes sense now :)

(btw I walked down to the only open gas station in the area and ate two hot dogs instead, and no, I don’t mean any of our four-legged canine friends)

Almost everything fresh and made from scratch; all breadstuffs from local bakery.

Starters; Hummus and whole wheat pita, salsa and blue corn chips, pecans,

Artichokes, petit pois, cauliflower puree, squash puree with sauteed mushrooms and onions, cranberry sauce, salad.

Apple and cranberry crisp (w/o the crisp) with local ice cream – Expresso crunch and choc. mint.

Biscotti and tea.

One guest had wine; the rest drank organic grape juice. No heartburn, no bloat, no groaning and collapsing into Barcalounger.

@supergirl: can you teach me Broccoli Casserole? and even more intriguingly,
can you teach me Candid Carrots? I’m really tired of the old Devious Carrots we’ve been eating all these years…..
