Do Teach for America teachers make the same salary no matter where they are placed?

Short answer, no. Salaries vary greatly by state, county (parish).
Teach for America teachers are employees of the districts in which they work and thus are paid starting teacher salaries in the districts where they work. In a more expensive areas that TFA places teachers like the San Francisco Bay area they may start by making the upper 30’s, in the Mississippi Delta the mid to upper 20s. TFA has great resources that give a run down of all areas that they place in, including average starting salaries.
TFA has a long standing relationship with Americorp (although you should check if it continues). For each year of participation in an Americorp program you receive a $4700 education stipend to pay off qualifying loans, or to pay for future education. Thus TFA teachers get more than $9000 extra over the two years—again check to see that this affiliation continues.
