IM vs. SMS privacy?

I have a company-issued blackberry. I SMS personal messages which is all on the up and up and acceptable to company. However I don’t like that all SMS #, dates, times comes thru on company phone bill; prefer more privacy. What is the best platform to communicate with others on blackberry or iphone?
