I have hives on my arms and am feeling dizzy and exhausted. Any ideas?

Asked by suzyq2463 (2224points) December 28th, 2008

The hives started day before yesterday and are on the inside of my right arm, the inside of my elbow on the left arm, and on my upper thighs. They get really itchy and then the itchiness subsides. The bumps are raised.

Are you taking any medication? It sounds like some sort if allergic reaction. You really should go see a doctor, and soon!

Take some benadryl, and try to determine if you’ve eaten something different, changed laundry detergent, etc.

Well, SuzyQ, what happened? You feeling better? Update the Flutherverse with the latest news. What did the Doc say?

Yeah, I’ve been wondering too!

Well, I still have the hives on my arms (and upper legs). The dizziness may or may not be connected—I don’t know. Anyway, I’ve got an appointment with the dermatologist next Thursday. The hives will probably disappear on Wednesday, so I’ll have nothing to show him. But, I’ve read that they can appear and disappear for weeks and that you may never find out what caused them. So, inquiring minds, I have nothing to report. Yet. But thanks for your concern. I’m not dead. Yet.

I get hives like that from nerves sometimes. Benadryl may help, but if they don’t get any better, you may not want to wit so long to see a doctor. Maybe you should call your family doctor and describe you symptoms, and see if He/She agrees about seeing a dermatologist. If any new symptoms appear, go right away.

got back from a cruise not too long ago and couldn’t shake the “sea legs”...its been over 3 weeks now and I’m worse than ever…along with the dizziness and “sea legs” came these ichy red bumps inside both elbows, thighs, along spine, etc: itch for 10–20 minutes then subside but turn up somewhere else. I too was wondering if they were related. At times I’m afraid to drive. Let me know what the Doc says
