Try and name one main app (iPhoto, iChat etc)
and one 3rd Party (Handbrake, Vuze, coconut battery etc)
Personally I’m gonna go for iPhoto as my main app simply because it’s perfect for organising pics.
And for my third party, I’m gonna say Transmission, coz everyone needs some sort of torrent handler!

95% of the time I’m using my mac, I’m using Safari or iTunes. However there are so many apps integrated in the system that i can’t live without. The finder with QuickLook, Exposé, Time Machine, iSync, Spotlight and more. And there’s those i have running in the background, last.fm, Transmission
itunes because i love my ipod and my music. flock because it’s a social browser. it’s nice to have everything in one place :)
The ones I use the most day to day are of course a web browser (I switch between Omniweb, Camino and Safari) and NetNewsWire, Adium, Transmission, Unison, VLC, Typinator, Skitch, Dropbox, Coversutra, 1Password.
Others I don’t use as often but are awesome: Transmit, Textmate, Imagewell, Handbrake, TV Shows.
Expose and Spotlight
Handbrake for sure. How else would I watch things on my iPod?
The ones I use for my work. TextMate, Versions and CSSEdit. (I won’t include Photoshop, since it’s not strictly a “mac app”.)
iChat and spotlight. If you were mainly using quicksilver for quick app/file opening (as opposed to entering text into a google search), then quicksilver is much faster nowadays.
Oh, so many:
Arpeture
iPhoto
iTunes
Safari
Pages
Numbers
iMovie
Third party: Handbrake
Photoshop
Coda
Text Wrangler
iView Media Pro (before MS took it over)
Parallels (strictly for browser testing CSS)
There is a website called “I Use This” where users list their favorite applications and comment on them. I’ve found it a valuable resource for finding new apps for various functions. The URL is http://osx.iusethis.com .
This is my iusethis profile; it has my favorites already list: http://osx.iusethis.com/user/nashish
I hope this helpful to you! :)
iTunes
My whole house is Apple’d with Apple TVs and AirTunes, got an iPod docking station in the car replacing my CD-changer. So I guess iTunes would hurt the most if it was gone.
As for 3rd party, hum.
SMCfancontrol
My MacBook Pro gets horribly hot on the road
VMWare Fusion
One of my most important software applications for my job only runs on Windows.
Safari, Itunes, FCP- don’t like Iphoto, don’t use Ichat. Quicktime! Quicktime and Preview rule!
ICal
Safari
1Password (Dead without this)
Evernote
Dropbox
