What to write in a college admission resume?

Asked by mtm513 (2points) December 29th, 2008

Im completely stuck in finishing this resume. So far I have the basics, education and work history. I think Im having the most difficulty in filling it up and making it look good. Im returning to college after many years of being away. Also, to be completely honest I have no unique skills pertaining to school, nor was I involved in any extra curricular activities or clubs during high school and my GPA isnt anything special. On paper it looks pathetic! Oh, if I had only known… :)
Any suggestions? Thank you!

If you have no unique skills pertaining to your education, tell about your personal qualities. Tell why you’re coming back and how hard you’re planning on working. They’ll see that although you’re lacking in some areas, you really seem like you want to turn that around. Don’t be afraid to brag on yourself.

Think about how your life skills relate to learning, how you learn in the workplace, examples of innovative thinking, problem solving, etc. Students who have been out of school for awhile are generally the curve-busters. They tend to sit up front and ask a lot of questions, because they’re there for a purpose.
