Have two of your favorite bands ever collaborated?

Asked by DrasticDreamer (23996points) December 29th, 2008

If so, what two bands? Was the outcome desirable? I’m asking because I’m looking for more music and sometimes collaborations are fantastic, like what I’m listening to now. Tool and Deftones… Perfect combination.

Four of my favorite bands are in a band called Fantomas. Mike Patton of Faith No more and Mr. Bungle, guitarist Buzz Osborne of The Melvins, Trevor Dunn of Mr. Bungle on bass, and Dave Lombardo of Slayer on drums. They have several albums and are all badass musicians. Check them out.

Absolutely will do.

Kudos on Mr. Bungle. Mine would be the whole Mother Love Bone, Temple of the Dog, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden thing. Even though it’s not a real collaboration, I guess.

Rusted Root and Jimmy Page & Robert Plant performed live together years ago.

Robert Plant (again) and Alison Kraus with Union Station on a recent album and concert.

Lindsey Buckingham and Little Big Town in concert.

Bonnie Rait and Lyle Lovett in concert.

Jack White and Loretta Lynne on her recent album.

Oh the bassplayer for Led Zeppelin and Sonic Youth are supposed to be doing something but I don’t really know much about it. Superjoint Ritual is like a stoner sludge metal band. Phil Anselmo singer for Pantera is their vocalist. Hanks Williams the Third plays drums or bass can’t remember. Then a couple of other guys from some well known metal band feel ou the the rest of their roster. I like these guys. I have always liked Pantera and Hanks 3 is the best. He is in a punk. metal, and twanged out country band that shits on modern or “pop country” as he calls it. @cprevite, John Paul Jones! right on!

Would love to see Radiohead and Portishead. Two heads are better than one. That should be your next question- who would you like to see together. I don’t want to rip it off of your awesome question!

DrasticDreamer's avatar

@Mica: By all means, feel free to rip it off! :)

Queen’s not my favourite band, but Under Pressure with Bowie is one of my favourite songs. Fuck off Vanilla Ice.
