Do you have a Wacky phobia?

Moths and butterflies

Men with long hair used to terrify me – to the point that psychologists probably would have been interested. The fear has lessened significantly as I’ve aged and I was never able to figure out where it came from.

And moths. They have always creeped me out.

I hate putting staples in the stapler because I’m afraid that the stapler is going to smash my fingers. I hate putting air in my car tires because I’m scared I will overinflate and the tire will burst.

It took me a long time to think of one, but yes, I do have a phobia of the sharp point that forms when you cut the lid off of a can. I am worried that I will forget about it and inadvertently slice my hand on it when cleaning the inside of the can.

Stickers. I have never been able to explain the reasons behind this fear, but I hate even the thought of stickers. Eww…

I have a fear of spiders and elevators. Elevators because of when the one in my appartment broke :S. Trapped for only a few minutes (which seemed like forever).

I have a fear of toilets, also. :)
When I was about four (yes, and epic year for me) I flushed a toilet and it overflowed. I slipped on the water and fell and I could taste shit in my mouth—eew!
Is anyone else on the same page as me saying that toilets are the stupidest invention ever?? Gimme a response…please.
To this day, I hate automatics because they flush when I am trying to do business. Scares the shit out of me but not the way I want it to come out.

Oh, and dogs. I hate dogs. Cats rule. (even though I have a cat that hates everyone). When I was eight, I was playing left field one day, and all of a sudden, this wild dog came out after me. I started running and it embarrassed me so much! It eventually bit me. It was a golden retriever! It hurt and to that day I hate them. I still have a scar on my leg. I like cats better because they love you with their distance, not dogs who lick you and disgust you and everything.

I am absolutely terrified of sharks, which is insanely silly because I live in the middle of Ohio.

My bosses wife is phobic of fish. Odd.

For me, it’s needles. I refuse to get a flu shot, antibiotic shot, anything. Now you can draw blood, or a dentist can shoot me full of novocaine. But you DO NOT give me a regular shot. I all but pass out.

I am terrified of aliens and have always been frightened of the thought of being abducted since i could remember.

I fear the Apocolypse, also. But I am ready to die any day.

ha. yeah, i am so scared of aliens, yet get very interested in watching those shows on alien abductions or movies.

I don’t want to watch them. I hate sci-fi!!!!! HATE IT!!! Hate it with a fiery passion.

Morning! How’s Oasis?

Small Round candies. I’m so scared I’ll enhale while eating and choke on them, Likely cuz I did just that as a kid and managed to cough it out – I was all alone scared the crap out of me, now I avoid them. I have a little girl and I hate it when she has candy – I watch her like a hawk.

@allymay, my sister is the same way, but when eating chicken when its on the bone. she is always freaking out that she or someone may choke on a small bone .

When I was about 3 years old, I was sucking on a lemon drop. I inhaled it down my wind pipe & couldn’t breathe. My uncle saw what was happening & he grabbed me by my ankles & shook me hard. The lemon drop popped out on the floor. He literally saved my life that day. I know how dangerous a piece of hard candy can be, especially to a small child.

How scary! So – my Small Candy Phobia’s pretty well shared then!

I have too many phobias but maybe it is because I am finicky.

@Kid,i once opened a Bar in Space, we had to close it after a week because there was no atmosphere in the place.

I just don’t like how it is so big…apparently I don’t like things too small or too big :S. It scares me. It just looks ugly and terrifying—all black with white random stars…..makes me dizzy.

@kid: Dunno, why you’re pissed off at me. Oh well. As for space, that’s a silly reason to hate something. Go get an astronomy book. The stars are probably the most beautiful thing you’ll ever study.

Whoa whoa whoa.
You can’t just say that. You could ask other answerers “oh why are you afraid of moths?” People have died in space because of lack of oygen (I think). I just don’t like it, end of story. I know a lot about astronomy from my brother, so quit trying to burst my bubble.

@kid: Hehe, yes I can. It’s my opinion. Who has died in space? Can you give me a name? And you used an improper phrase, generally when I burst a bubble I’m making a happy thing sad. Your irrational phobia is not a happy thing I can ruin.

I could be wrong here, but I’m fairly certain we don’t send people up into the great void without copious amounts of breathable air. Also, you would die from the cold much quicker (say, instantly?) then you would from the lack of oxygen in space. And if cold and oxygen weren’t issue, there would still be the intense radiation.

For God’s sake Asmonet, you told me in PM that it is an opinion website and I can put my opinion. My opinion is that space is scary, good reason or not. Don’t be so hypocritical.

@gimmedat Beware The Stapler. My sister stapled my finger once. Through the fingernail. My dad had to take it out w/ pliers. Very traumatizing.
