More and more… Nothing. That said, while people are willing to discuss practically anything, they are still reluctant to speak about certain issues. Being gay and abortion are a couple of topics that spring to mind.
In my personal world, however, I’m literally willing to have a conversation about anything, as long as the participants are open-minded and mature enough to handle whatever may be said.
As drasticdreamer stated gay and abortion, but also sex with some people. I really can care less. Im game for any conversation.
Talking to coworkers about how much money you earn.
I can’t think of anything that’s still taboo, given an appropriate setting. I won’t discuss my wages with co-workers either, I won’t discuss drugs with my mom (only because she rants for hours even when I agree with her), nor will I talk about sexual fetishes with my grandmother. There’s a time and a place for most things though. :o)
not necessarily taboo, but people get awfully offended if you talk about
1) their child-raising techniques
2) their religion
Not much, and I am glad of it. The more we discuss things openly, the more tolerant and respectful people become.
Its really nothing anymore and probably we’ll have less and less of such taboo subjects in the future. Its just that some topics always need to be handled with care.
@steven, I’m not so sure. I think people are becoming more guarded of their privacy, and are less reluctant to talk about some things. Just like blogging has brought back the importance of grammar and spelling.
