Which movie have you seen the most times?

There are some movies people see over and over again for any number of reasons: maybe a market driven fad or cult classic, obsessive behavior or just a great film you love, or maybe because it’s your work or a research project. Which single film is your all time repeat? Would you watch it again?

I have watched the Miyazaki movies an obscene amount of time, for no reason other than sheer fanboy-ism.
If you could pick just one of them, which would it be and how many times do you think you saw it? 5 times? 10?
The Matrix, Pulp Fiction, Waiting, and Talladega Nights to name a few
The Shawshank Redemption
Gotta be 30 or 40 times.
Runners up: Star Wars, Dead Poets Society
A Christmas Story and Office Space – I can’t even think of how many times i’ve seen those, way too many.
Phantom Menace: over 20
Return of the Jedi: same or more
Now I don’t like to watch movies more than once, but
No Country: close to 10
Goodfellas: 10 or more
I’ve watched a number of movies many, many times. I’d have to say the winner(s) would be the classics that are shown every year without fail on TV, since I’m 41 and generally watch them at least once a year. I’d say it’s down to The Wizard of Oz and It’s a Wonderful Life.
It’s a tossup between 8 1/2 and What About Bob.
50+ times a piece. I often put movies on while I’m doing other things.
I guess I wasn’t that clear about my question. I’m curious:
1. Film name
2. Number of times seen
My Dad, for example probably watched African Queen close to 50 times, at least. For me it’s Star Wars, probably 30 times. My list of favorite movies, though, would be much different…
Die Hard Trilogy
Indiana Jones Trilogy
I refuse to acknowledge the existence of fourth installments for both franchises
The Prestige
Fight Club and Dark Knight (ive seen it at least 12 times already >_<)
@KrystaElyse Ive watched a Christmas Story at least 3 times every christmas for as long as i can remember :P
Star Wars (original), I stopped counting after seeing it in the theatre over 30 times. Various times on Betamax, TV, etc., and the “added CGI edition” (whatever that was called) in the theatre. Yes, I’d be happy to see it again.
probably a tie between the nightmare before christmas and rent and breakfast at tiffany’s.
rent may win out, even though that’s the one i most recently discovered out of the 3. my friend got me into it and we kept the movie on repeat for 2 days straight. pathetic
The Nightmare Before Christmas
requiem for a dream, dazed and confused, but the winner is dumb and dumber
Labyrinth, The Princess Bride, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, every single Disney movie from my childhood, Office Space, Clueless, and about 15 Elvis movies.
All of which I have seen 100+ times. The first three I have seen over 250 times each.
But that’s not sitting down and watching it, I play movies in the background while I clean, study, pay bills, I like background noise. And I had RHPS on repeat for about two months when I was a teenager. That helped.
I am that nerd you hear about watching Star Wars a billion times. I can repeat word for word, all of those movies. Photographic memory, FTW.
City of God, Donnie Darko, and Gia. Probly 30+ each.
I’ve seen Back to the Future every time it’s ever been shown on TV.
Princess Bride.
Not entirely sure about the number of times seen.
Some obscene number most likely. I’m thinking triple digits.
And that’s not counting the number of times I’ve listened to it.
My sister actually made me a recording of it on cassette tape.
Runner Up: Groundhog Day
(One of my favourite movies. But I’ve never bought it because it’s always on TV.)
Alien, the first 3 times accidentally (I rented it out twice thinking I hadn’t seen it) and then eventually decided to do a lecture on it at university and so watched it a few more.
I would you watch Requiem for a Dream multiple times??! I could hardly stand to watch it once.
Extremely depressing. Brilliant film though.
Beauty and the Beast for actually watching it.
Notting Hill for “movie I put on in the background”. It’s my go-to background movie. I watched it so often in college that my roommate got me the DVD and a pair of headphones. And flat out TOLD me it was so I could put it on my laptop and watch. None of that insinuation here, no sir.
The Godfather I lost count of how many times I have watched it. I can recite most of the lines along with the actors.
cruel intentions over and over again since its release long time ago!
It’s astounding. Time is fleeting. Madness… takes its toll!
I have seen the Rocky Horror Picture Show more times than I can count. I even filled in a few times during absences for the cast that performed it at the theatre.
The “normal” movie I’ve seen the most is Amadeus. I had a heck of a crush on Tom Hulce as Mozart, back when I was a teenager.
Hairspray, Rocky Horror, The Godfather, or Head of State.
The Princess Bride over 50 times. Bicentennial Man over 20 times. Willow over 65 times.
aaaaaass youuuuuu wishhhhhh
*** “The Thing”, both versions. The first with James Arness [matt dillon], his first movie role, and John Carpenter’s with Kurt Russell. In total 35+. Love the concept and hey, it could happen!!
my best guess would be Amadeus, and it’s got to be in the triple digits.

I don’t watch movies obsessively (Amadeus 100 times averages 4 times a year) The newest one on the list above was Sicko which I saw once in the theater and twice to take notes before presenting it in classes, three times this month in class, six times last year.
Since I have been watching movies for over 50 years, I have a lot of old favorites that I watch every time they appear on TCM. Several are older than I am but back in the day of just 3 channels there were lots of old movies on TV.
I would be interested if anyone else has seen all of them even once. Give the ones you haven’t seen a try. Some of them are real chick-flicks, so guys, get romantic points by watching with your girlfriend. I have a weakness for vintage scifi/monster which are good for a giggle. I like comedies that hold up over time (no dumb/teen/bodily function jokes please) And the older dramas revolve around real human drama not super-evil conspiracies and explosions.
Amadeus 4 times a year? Way more than that. But I should add that this isn’t necessarily start-to-finish. I love putting it on repeat on weekends while I’m doing whatever.
My mother used to watch Pretty Woman all the time so that is the one that I have seen the most. Not pawning it off on mom, I did like the movie (what a tough guy huh). Half Baked, Formula 51, and Boiler Room are others that I have seen countless times.
Blazing Saddles
Young Frankenstein
Zorro; The Gay Blade
Airplane
Paint Your Wagon
@galileo: I’ve seen 95% of your list. :D I’m gonna check out the rest.
asmonet: I congratulate you on your good taste ;D
The Matrix defined my high school years.
According to my mom, I loved these movies as a child:
– Brave Little Toaster
– The Little Mermaid
– Beauty and the Beast
– Land Before Time
– We Sing: Marvelous Musical Mansion
– Aladdin
– The Absent-Minded Professor (Fred McMurray)
@galileo: I’m definitely adding “A Funny Thing…” and “Into the Woods” to my list.
@shad: You get lurve for We Sing. No one I know has ever heard of it but I lived by those VHS tapes.
I played Milky White in Into The Woods when I was seven. It was awesome.
I’d say it’s either His Girl Friday or Blazing Saddles at least 15–20 times each, followed closely by Monty Python & the Holy Grail, which is in the double digits, too, but I’m not sure how many times. I’ve also seen Citizen Kane, The Palm Beach Story and the other Python films more than 6 or 7 times. I’m not that good at keeping track.
@as – Yeah! I had a couple of the We Sing tapes. I watched one a couple of years ago and it still entertained me.
@april- His Girl Friday is amazing. I should buy that one…
Star Wars, The Matrix, Close Encouners of the Third Kind, Blue Velvet, It’s a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story
I’ve seen Superbad over 8 times and it never gets old.
top gun, the matrix both about 50 times…
gotta love the mighty ducks as well :)
Now, probably Dracula: Pages from a Virgin’s Diary. Seriously that movie has dominated my life for the past two weeks because of my project for school.
