What are the most creative methods of activism you have heard of?
What creative methods outside of the box you have heard of? Even new innovative remixes of old ways like flyering, street theater, etc. I think for example the anti-Scientology group “Anonymous” is on the “cutting-edge” of 2.0 Activism to an extent with branding, collective decision, using Web 2.0 extensively, the costumes, videos. Save Darfur had some interesting ideas. The Obama Campaign made extensive use of Web 2.0 but was still the traditional door to door, canvass, phonebank, and GOTV.

peachcake is just about as original as it gets. i can’t decide whether they’re more band or more activist.
Well, I’m a fan of the old fashioned berma-shave. It’s totally underused these days.
I really like The Ruckus Society . They make giant puppets and encourage people to climb large buildings and put up banners.
In Portland Oregon they are trying to raise awareness of bicycle safety. Wherever someone was killed on a bike they spraypaint an old bike white and chain it to a pole or tree where the accident occured. They call it ghostbike and there is signs with the bikes telling the story.
Carrotmob “organizes consumers to make purchases that give financial rewards to those businesses who agree to make socially beneficial choices.” Watch a video or two…it’s really interesting!
I second Carrotmob! Videos are totally inspiring.
I learned about Carrotmob from you, Trustinglife!
@Aug, yay! I feel special. I love when people receive what I share!
Montgomery Bus Boycott, Boston Tea Party,
A group related with Shane Claiborne (don’t know if you have heard of him. wrote Irresistible Revolution) threw dollar bills out and blew bubbles at the NYSE to show the joy of giving. I thought it was pretty good.
Culture jamming, definitely. Subvertising.
