Depending on your deductible amount. How much is the deductible? Sorry about the car that sucks.

Get the guy who hit your car to pay to repair it. You can call call the cops and give them his personal information.

Now you probably do have uninsured motorist which you would need to call your insurance provider to find out. You will still have to pay the deductible but they will repair the damage done to the car.

If you have that guys information, use it. Otherwise it’s going to cost you $800.

If you make the claim on your insurance, your rates may go up. Better off making a police report. The police are allowed to make a report without issuing a citation in cases such as this. With the report, you have some recourse then to recover the cost from him or his insurance.

John typically accidents that are not your fault don’t cause your rates to go up. I always call the police though.

I was in a hit and run and my insurance rates didn’t go up and they replaced the car.

Thank you for the clarification.

I just thought of something else. They do count as marks on your record but don’t count when calculating the rates. Typically someone who has been in a wreck before is statistically more likely to be a second wreck then someone who has never been in a wreck (no matter who’s fault it is).

If you have full coverage you should be good. But if the repair costs less than the deductible then just pay for it or get the other driver to pay for it. Good thing you called the police but also take lots of pictures.
