Are my Magic: The Gathering cards worth anything?

Asked by wenbert (316points) December 31st, 2008

I have a couple of cards. Are they worth anything? They are like more than 10 years old.

It would depend on how common those individual cards are… some are worth more than others, and it’s hard to tell without knowing which ones you’re holding.

Here’s one pricelist I found. Perhaps yours are on it?

I usually use the site Anycraze for pricing on magic the gathering. They do price a little high, but overall it’s generally pretty accurate. Also, if you’re trying to sell to specific buyers, the type and use of a card can be very important. For instance, I was able to get a much better price for cards out of my friend because they were cards he needed to make a deck work better.

If by a couple you literally mean 10 or under, yeah they’re pretty much valueless. Unless the card is one of the ultra rare cards (black lotus or mox ruby or time walk) it probably isn’t worth your time to price them. By all means consult an online price guide, but do realize that not everyone nor every card dealer values the cards the same. Your easiest way to convert cards to money is to take them to a card/comic book shop and take whatever they give you, which probably won’t be much. You can also sell them as a lot online via eBay or craigslist, you might get more money but you’ll likely spend more time and effort.
