Anyone tried glucosamine chondroitin for back/disc pain?
My wife, a physician, is skeptical it will help, but I tried glucosamine chondroitin way back and it seemed to help my back pain. She had a slipped disc that appears to be reabsorbing a bit, but some arthritis in other discs. Anyone tried glucosamine chondroitin for back/disc pain? Did you notice any effect?

Never for back/disc pain, but it does help the spouse’s bad hip.
I used it for a while with a bulging disc and ruptured disc. Perhaps it was psychosomatic but I felt like it did help some. Unfortunately, we learned it was doing something to effect some medication I was taking for something else, so I had to stop.
For me, it wasn’t so much a matter of removing the pain, but it did seem to help with inflammation (which contributed to pain) and mobility. At that point, even the slightest relief was monumental because I was virtually incapacitated by the pain and lack of flexibility and mobility.
My docs told me repeatedly it couldn’t possibly have any impact on the back. Maybe I just really wanted something to work.
I tried it for general pain and achiness; lower back, knees, creaky neck. It did nothing. Heat and PT helped the most but I had chronic soft tissue issues and not herniated or ruptured discs.
Both my son and sister had surgery as a last resort. They had to do regular stretches afterwards.
