Can you really reform a "tool"?
Just read about the new VH1 reality show called “Tool Academy”.
VH1’s description: We have all encountered them before: those strutting, preening, over confident alpha-males who lie, cheat, and treat their girlfriends like door mats. They are “tools,” and they desperately need a wake up call. VH1 and 495 Productions are taking 9 of these unsuspecting bad boys and sending them to relationship boot camp in a new series titled Tool Academy. The eight episode series, hosted by Jordan Murphy, is slated to premiere Sunday, January 11 at 10/9c.
In 8 episodes, can a tool really be reformed? And what will become of these old tools?

Doubt it. Any guy like that who agrees to go to that kind of “boot camp” is only doing it for one reason and one reason alone – to get on TV. So he can, after the show airs, get the girls that will be impressed he was on TV, so he has the opportunity to cheat that much more…
The funny thing is that these guys don’t know they are on this reality show. The original plot will show them thinking they are competing on a show to find the new “Mr. Awesome!”. That in itself makes me want to watch. haha
I suppose it’s possible. I mean, hell, Peter Griffin did it on Family Guy (season 2, episode 15 “I am Peter, Hear Me Roar.”)
I personally don’t believe any reality TV actually contains much reality to it… other than The Biggest Loser. (Can’t really fake losing weight I guess.) Not really sure I even bought into the Joe Schmo Show and it was a misleading show like the one you’re describing too.
One guy who was reformed was “Bob”, who had a problem of slapping and hitting women he was dating. He had three dates with “Kim”, got physical, then found out she was a karate instructor. “Bob has not had another date in the last 12 years.
and you can’t hardly see the scars anymore.
i think the idea of the show is kind of an impossibility in itself, because i pretty much think that most people who create reality shows – especially ones on music channels that are completely irrelevant to music – are tools.
