It’s a toss up between Germany, Florida and Washington DC. Germany was 2 1/2 years ago for our 15th Wedding Anniversary. Florida for our 10th anniversary and DC was with our kids in 2000.
I live only about an hour from DC, so that’s not a big deal for me… but Germany… Wow, I’m jealous.
Amsterdam. Just because it’s Amsterdam.
Honeymoon in SW France. Yum and beautiful.
We have been on many great vacations, but two really stand out. A road trip to Yellowstone from our state, which is Louisiana. We were gone for three weeks. We went to the Grand Canyon and hiked it. We explored through Utah, and loved it. Yellowstone was mind blowing and life changing. Montana was beautiful. We came back through Colorado and went to the top of Pike’s Peak. It was great!
In 2007 we went to Hawaii for three weeks! It was so beautiful. We are going back in May for a month, and we can’t wait!
As much as I loved the whole europe trip with my friends, I’m going with Washington D.C. with my family. I’m a huge history nerd and my parents took me to Colonial Williamsburg and I just about came in my 8 year old pants. LOVED IT.
i’ve been to ireland several times, it was beautiful, rugged, charming. i went to hawaii when i was 13 – that was incredibly beautiful, flowers everywhere and air sweet with nectar and it was depressing when i returned to gray new york in march – all concrete and clammy. i went camping with my college professor and a bunch of classmates. i’m a history major, and we went with the history professor to colonial williamsburg, monticello, gettysburg, and some other civil war sites. the history prof acted as tour guide, and cooked breakfast every day, and i had not been camping prior to that, nor have i since, but it was great fun. i’ve been to louisiana to explore family history, california which was also beautiful, las vegas which is a great adult playground. these are just a few – i could go on but this is just a summary of the memorable ones.
Europe! I went to Paris (France), Bruges (Belgium), Amsterdam (Holland), Heidelberg (Germany), and Prague (Czech Republic) this summer for almost three weeks and had the most amazing time. There was a fair amount of museum-going, some great food and drink, wonderful photo taking opportunities (I myself am a photographer – they were the best locations ever!), and the plain atmosphere of Europe was the most invigorating thing in the world!
I went to London, stayed for 3 weeks and went as native as possible. Rented a flat in Islington. Took the tube everywhere. Rode a black cab once. Shopped at Tesco. Wondered why BBC1 seemed to have snooker on whenever I turned on a set before 6pm. Went dancing at a disco that Robbie Williams showed up to (though I didn’t see him). Went to a rock show at Hackney Ocean for free and got to hang out at the after-party. Rode the London Eye, went to the Tate Modern, the Abbey, the new Globe, the British Museum, the British Library, and a cute little museum of design somewhere out past Gospel Oak. I wish I could remember the name. It had a ton of rooms, each decorated in a different period style from all of London’s history from Roman times to today. I only wish I’d gotten some sort of tour of Television Centre.
It was like a mini-test drive to see if I liked it there and I do! It was ace!
This is going to sound so boring, but the Poconos was my favorite. I went in the fall and it was breathtakingly beautiful. What did I do? Nothing at all. It was bliss.
A beautiful chalet in the northwoods of Wisconsin. We had a chain of lakes to cruise on with the pontoon we rented, sat by the fire, played on the beach, fished and drank some awesome local beer. We do this every year. Pure relaxation!
@augustlan I remember that! did you notice how whenever you type a username it becomes a link now??
G’day
Holiday destinations. Last June spent two wonderful weeks in Pelabuhan Ratu, West Java. Staying in an older style beach resort called Ocean Queen. Google it, lots to do around the area, great for walking, biking, and if your into surfing check out Cimaja.
Previous September was spent on West Coast of Scotland. Highlight was staying on the Isle of Skye and hill walking. Magic place lovely people.
For a perfect vacation, I went to a place with a great beach such as Barcelona and Ibiza. That was in Spain…
