During the long power outage, I toasted bread over a gas burner and then added sliced tomatoes and strips of mozarella cheese. Not bad, no dishes, and edible.

turkey bacon lettuce and cheese on wheat toast.

@rossie, My son eats ramen noodles dry. Yuck.

rossi_bear's avatar

@judi.. yuck! and oops i spelled it wrong. lol

Ramen noodles are good dry! They’re also really good when you turn them into microwavable burritos, with hot sauce to dip them in! Yum! Kinda want one now.. :D

rossi_bear's avatar

@drasticdreamer… interesting!

Cereal and milk. My original “comfort food.”

babiturtle36's avatar

Pizza rolls, beef ramen or scrambled eggs and hotdogs

cdwccrn's avatar

Peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Trustinglife's avatar

Trader Joe’s microwaveables: Spinach Lasagna, Chicken Quesadillas, Pad Thai. Otherwise, soup.

tinyfaery's avatar

Cereal for me too. I’d die without cereal.

syz's avatar

Oatmeal.

PupnTaco's avatar

A bowl of cereal. Food’s ready in five seconds.

Cereal eaters, what kind of cereal?

tinyfaery's avatar

I’ll eat pretty much any cereal. Just call me Jerry Seinfeld.

cherryberry's avatar

I prefer any sweet & colorful cereal, but I’ve never met a bowl of cereal I didn’t like…. Except maybe grapenuts. Not even three spoons of sugar can disguise the taste of dirt & bean sprouts.

When I went on a diet last year and didn’t want to cook – I didn’t eat- I must have lost 10 pounds just off of the convenience factor of that alone!!

KatawaGrey's avatar

A can of mixed vegetables and cottage cheese. Sounds weird, but it’s delicious and healthy! (and takes about 30 seconds to make)

buster's avatar

Bertollis pasta bags.

AlfredaPrufrock's avatar

Either cereal, oatmeal or “bullseyes”, where you cut a circle in a piece of bread, and crack an egg into the circle, and fry it in a little butter. Or a toasted English muffin with cheddar cheese. (I’m sensing a breakfast theme going on here…)

Allie's avatar

Mmmmm.. add my name to the cereal list too.

aprilsimnel's avatar

Whole wheat crackers, cheese and olives. Or pita bread and hummus.

Judi's avatar

I like hummus a lot! I could get fat on hummus.

jca's avatar

sourdough bread heated in the oven, with butter. trader joe’s has good sourdough. some stores have sourdough which is not sour, which pisses me off.

a vegetable and/or some fruit. dessert.

justn's avatar

Grilled cheese sandwich with chips and dip.

aprilsimnel's avatar

@Judi: I know. In my heart I bless the ancient Syrian who thought it up.

While we’re on the subject of blessing food creators/suggestions, I just want to send a bucket of Lurve to whoever mentioned cake balls in another question about food. Oh. My. Goodness. Ohmymymymymymy!!

augustlan's avatar

Cereal for me, too…anything from Special K to Lucky Charms :)

I also eat Grapenuts, but with butter instead of milk. Yum.

augustlan's avatar

@Alfreda: Thank you for bringing those cake balls to my attention. They look delicious!

millastrellas's avatar

kraft singles and ritz crackers, or just any cheese.

cooksalot's avatar

Spaghetti!

PupnTaco's avatar

A lot of these involve cooking for an “I don’t want to cook” dinner!

gailcalled's avatar

The magic ingredient is salsa. I keep jars of “mild” to hand. You can scramble eggs with salsa in a MW in two minutes (add 1 t water), mix with cottage cheese, eat with decent corn chips, throw in already-made soup like lentil, split pea or black beans and eat it out of jar with a spoon. I usually have a pot of cooked brown rice in fridge; open a can of black beans, slice some mozzarella, douse with salsa and nuke the bowl.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich

Ramen with peanut sauce

Cottage cheese and Doritos (cool ranch, thank you)

Bagel with cream cheese, smoked salmon, thinly sliced onion, and sprinkled with dill (with tomato slice, in season)

Kraft Dinner

Schenectandy's avatar

@PupnTaco- no kidding!

My favorite I don’t want to cook dinner though is when I discover that morning me made crock pot chili! How thoughtful.

PupnTaco's avatar

“Morning Dave” is not nearly so smart or considerate.

Crushed up graham crackers in milk.
