Yes it loses it flavors. The sugars first then the flavorings break down.

It loses its flavor – especially when left on the bedpost overnight.

The flavour in gum is caused by adding the flavour to the tasteless gum base. As you chew it, your saliva will dissolve the sugars and flavours inside of the gum. Eventually you will be left with the plain chewy gum.

Fun fact: The primary ingredient in many gums is not the tasteless gum base, but sugars and sweeteners. Around 60% of a piece of gum is sugar and sweeteners.

Yea, it does. I can’t/won’t chew gum for more than six minutes.

Only if you leave it on the bedpost overnight.

How many here old enough to get the reference besides me, Laureth and Grisson?
Original by Spike Jones in the Fifties.

If your mother says don’t chew it do you swallow it in spite?

Yes, I got the reference too, @gailcalled.

@Tali; You don’t count; you’re too smart for your own good.

@gailcalled, *Blushes * You can thank my dad for putting that on my iPod.

@Tali; What other oldies did he put on? Spike Jones had some lulus. Do you know Grandma’s Lye Soap?

I love this song…Hillbilly, redneck, satire, and easy chords for a banjo beginner.

@gailcalled, He put lots on there. Spikie Jones, Homer and Jethro, and others like them. I hadn’t heard Grandma’s Lye Soap before now, thanks!
