What's the best way to get an adhesive off my iron?

stitch witchery, to be exact.
sheesh, you could pretty much construct a timeline what i’m doing at any given moment based on my fluther questions…

i don’t have any goo gone in the house…

should i just wait for the iron to cool then scrape it off with a knife?

awesome. i used a knife while it was still pretty warm, but i unplugged it and used a regular table knife to scrape it off. after i got a little off, the rest just peeled right off in one piece easy.

I just read your comments at the other question and was going to post “use a butter knife!!” here, but I see you already have. My attempts at being a fake-psychic are thwarted!

Or a razor thingy, the kind you use for scraping paint off glass
after you paint around your windows but miss.

Rubbing alcohol will remove many adhesives (when the iron is cool).
