How did my moms hair become wavy?
Her hair was always stick straight, and even when it was short it was still completely straight, but the other day she cut about 4 inches off (it was down to the middle of her back and now it’s down to about 2 or 3 inches past her shoulders) and it got really wavy. Could it have something to do with her age? (she’s 45) like hormones?
It looks awesome btw.

The reason her hair is wavy now that’s it does not necessarily have to do with hormones, her hair was too heavy and pulled itself straight, my hair is the same way. The shorter the cut the tighter the curl. Think of a ringlet of hair, if you pulled on the bottom the curl would be more and more loose until it was fully straight all the way pulled down. It could also be that this haircut makes her hair behave that way.
Over time, hair texture can change, no matter your age. Hers did. :)
My hair was always stick straight until my 20’s, then it turned wavy too. I always wondered myself why it happened.
It could be hormones. Mine was bone straight when I was growing up – wouldn’t hold a curl for more than about 15 minutes whether it was long or super short. Then I got my hair cut when I was 13 and it just sprang up like a chia pet. Mine changed with puberty (hormone changes), so it’s more than plausible that your mom’s has changed due to hormone changes as well.
As she has aged her follicles have also. They have shrunk and laid down. Most significantly they are now less uniform in shape. They are partially restricted on one side so one side of the hair grows slightly faster than the other. This produces a ‘curved’ hair.
