we are getting a big snow storm, yaaaaaaaaaaaa
Something is happening – the moon is at perigee, the closest point to Earth that it reaches in its less-than-perfectly-circular orbit. This makes it appear bigger and brighter.
Sadly, it’s cloudy here. :(
I saw it! It was beautiful. The moon is closer than usual to the earth tonight. I thought I wasn’t going to get to see it because of cloud cover, but it showed itself. I got to watch as the clouds swallowed it up. Tides are higher too, so I went out and looked at the surf just before sunset.
Raining here and can’t see it. Will It be the same tommorrow? @SoapChef You live on the beach? (in awe)
@chyna – It will rise a little later and not be quite as full, but it should still be lovely. :)
@chyna I live about a mile from the Pacific in Oregon. It is gorgeous here. You will be able to see it tommorrow. They say to try and view it just after it rises. The relation to the horizon makes it seem bigger and more impressive.
All the astronomers strip, run outside and howl. Some of the non-astronomers do that also. So do their cats. Or would if it weren’t snowing. Last night it was beautiful.
I live in Portland, Oregon…Do we still have a moon? All I ever get to see is clouds. boo
In Northern Illinois, USA big and beautiful with halo from high cirrus clouds. Are these “Moon Dogs”?
