How do I remove beer smell from my car?

I was driving with quite a few cases of beer when hitting a pothole, and a few of the cans broke. I tried rubbing the upholstery with a damp cloth, but that apparently didn’t do much. Any tips? How long will it take for the smell to go away naturally?

Use an air freshener for the time being…
Once it’s dry use febreeze on it, that stuff works wonders on EVERYTHING.
Febreeze… can’t get that here (I live in Denmark). But perhaps I should look for some odor remover :-)
are you pulling our legs?
shampoo and water, Just be sure to use a clear shampoo. It works, I’ve tried it.
Maybe some baking soda would help. It gets the odor out of my shoes.
@charliecompany34 :: I have had a can of beer pop in my backpack while riding my bike.
@charliecompany34 No – unfortunately not :-) I had three cases on top of each other, and 3 cans cracked. Several others were bent but unbroken. Didn’t even feel that bad when it happened, but I soon noticed the smell.
Having beer in the car is legal in Denmark, by the way. And yes, you’re allowed to drink it as well as long as you’re not intoxicated – neither of which applied to me.
wow, denmark is so cool. they let you guys smoke marijuana over there, too, right? and let me guess, the crime rate is real low. am i wrong?
because it seems the more americans make stuff illegal, the more we break the law.
laundry detergent mixed with water.
@charliecompany34 No, Marijuana is illegal here, you’ve probably mistaken us for the Dutch. Yes, the crime rate is really low, but then again it’s a small country with 5.5 mill. inhabitants. And Copenhagen, the biggest city, is about 1 mill.
We’re moving in the same direction as you are, however. Selling cigarettes and alcohol to people below 18 has recently been outlawed, smoking has all but been banned in bars, and they’re talking about making prostitution illegal.

Open a large can of tomato sauce and dump it all over the beer stains. Let it soak in good for about an hour and then vacuum it up with a wet vac. The pH of the tomatoes will remove the beer smell.
(note: don’t actually do this. You will then have a stained car and a tomato smell in your car).
