YES. go to preferences and add your AIM username. all of your buddies will be added.
Thanks. I’m not sure I understand your answer. I have an AIM account and have been using that username to chat with my mac user friends. I would also like to chat with friends who use MSN etc. Can that be done? As per your advice…..I should open the ichat preferences and add my AIM username to what exactly? Can I just add MSN usernames to my ichat buddies or am I missing something?
oh I misunderstood. You want to videochat with windows users? Or just chat with people who have MSN? because the first one is possible, the second one is not.
um….Sorry. I should have written my question more clearly. I woud like to chat with my brother who uses a regular ol’ pc. If we were to try to videochat, how would we set that up?
There may be an iChat solution, but in the meantime, you can use Skype.com to videochat for free.
I think there’s a way to videochat in iChat between AIM users on Mac and PC, but I don’t know whether it’s possible to videochat between iChat and MSN. In my experience, iChat has been a continual pain to use with any non-Apple router, but Skype works all the time.
I didn’t know you could use skype to video chat! I do know that you can video chat with people with people using aim on windows, but they need to be the person to request it and have to have one if the newest versions of aim. You can only use an aim or .mac account on iChat, but if you just want to chat with someone using MSN (without video) you can get the program adium at adium.com which is what I use. It can handle just about any kind of chatting account type but no video.
