Can I use an old airport express as an extender of a brand new airpor extreme base or I have to use a new one?

I have problems to do this and I would like to know if it´s possible to do it even if their wifi revision is different

Hmm, I have an old express and bought a relatively new extreme and it works fine. Maybe there is a firmware upgrade you need or something?
