Tracking down an adopted Chinese orphan?

Hi -

This is something a bit personal, but something I could use a bit of (hopefully!) serendipitous advice/guidance:

When I was overseas, I raised money for an orphan to receive surgeries to mend her cleft palate. I have since left, and she has since become adopted by an American family. A friend of mine was supposed to meet the family the day of the adoption, but she screwed up, BIGTIME. So now, she is in the U.S. and I would like to be a part of her life and cultivate a relationship with her as she grows older, but I can’t track her.

I have had suggestions to look online for forums, which I am doing. The Chinese gov’t and orphanage are a dead, bureaucratic end.

Any help would be much appreciated! :)
