How do I get my volume GUI back?
I have an emachines T3256 and I used to have a volume GUI that would pop up when I adjusted the volume using the keyboard volume buttons but one day it just went away. I am running Windows XP SP3.The buttons still work but no GUI pops up on the screen. Control panel says that the keyboard is working properly and I’ve looked at other various settings but nothing has worked. Anyone got any ideas?

It’s most likely a driver issue.
Definitely try rebooting your computer if you haven’t.
If that does nothing to help the problem, go into your Control Panel then click on the keyboard icon then click on the Hardware tab at the top of the Keyboard dialog, then once there click the Properties button. From there click the Drivers tab.
From here you can simply try updating the driver, that may or may not work. You can uninstall the driver, reboot your computer and let Windows reinstall the drivers as best it can.
Your best option though would be to find out exactly what kind of keyboard you have (it should say somewhere on your keyboard, usually on the underside) go to the manufacturer’s website and download the most recent drivers for the keyboard.
Save the drivers to your desktop and reboot your computer, let Windows detect your keyboard and then when it asks you whether or not you want to let Windows to search for drivers online or if you have the drivers click “No, not this time” and then click “Install from a list or specified location” and then point it to the driver files you downloaded from the web. At first for this to work.
Your other slightly less entirely reliable option would be to uninstall the existing drivers and then if the drivers you download from the manufacturer’s website are in an executable form, just run the file and see if that works.
