What are some cute gift ideas?
So my boyfriend and I are celebrating our 1 year in March. I don’t have much money because we’re saving to move when we leave here. Money also isnt an issue, he’s not materialistic and probably not expecting anything at all. But still.
What could I possibly do or make for him? I already make dinner every night, so making him dinner wouldn’t be anything special.
Girls: Any cute homemade ideas that you’ve done? Or maybe cheap yet thoughtful gift ideas?
Guys: What kind of homemade thing would you like to receive from your girl? And what else could I possibly do?

Mixtapes and scrapbook type things are always good. The best gifts I got my ex were things that had special meaning to us. For example: on our first date, we walked around a college town and ended up going into a thrift store. He, as a joke, tried on a pair of pink velveteen girl pants. They ended up actually fitting, and he joked about buying them, but didn’t. Two months later, I made the hour and a half drive back to that thrift store to buy the pants which, thankfully, were still there, and gave them to him for his birthday. Best gift ever.
Coupon book! Include in it neat things you can do for him like a free massage or one hour with the remote. You might regret the remote one later, but he’ll probably appreciate the gesture.
well, an idea I’m a fan of is making a gift unique to a person in anyway you can. An idea I just got off the top of my mind is…getting a decent digital photo frame, and putting together a collage of pictures of the two of you together on an SD memory card and putting it inside the photo frame. You can even go as far to set it up, and put it on his desk, so maybe after he gets home from work and sits down at his desk, he’ll see his nice little photo frame with pictures of the two of you together.
I’d say take any normal gift idea, and try to put a unique spin on it somehow if possible. Just to let them know you went that extra bit to show you put effort into it.
photo frames by the way are not too expensive, but I’m sure if there is a circuit city nearby to you, you can find a clearance blow out sales, they are liquidating as of today. Here is a good photo frame I found on sale at my place of work, Best Buy or others alike should have one similar to this one too.
No CC or any big retail stores here, I’m not back in the US until Late March :[
Definitely considering all of the above though. And @TitsMcGhee that’s totally something I would do :D
It was a hell of a drive, but it TOOOOTALLY paid off :D
I hear you! I hope between now and then something like that happens. He would FREAK. Esp because I don’t have a car, and would have to call a taxi to go get it ^_^
Haha, we dated long distance (the college town was where he lived for our first day, 1.5 hrs away, then he moved a few states east and was 13 hrs away…), and I mailed them to him with no return address, but a note that just read “I love you.” When he got them, he called me and told me he loved me for fifteen minutes straight.
That’s just, adorable. I could see how it was totally worth it. Okay. Going out to the shops is currently on my to-do list!
For our first wedding anniversary, I printed out the lyrics of a song that has meaning for my husband, in a nice font & arrangement, and put it in a frame. He loved it, and it hangs in our bedroom.
I know you said you didn’t have a lot of money, but I got my boyfriend a mug from snapfish that had a collage of pictures of us on it! You just upload your pictures pick the mug you want and then the background color. It only was about twelve bucks, but I google’d snapfish promotions and got a percent off so it ended up only costing me about 10 bucks! My boyfriend doesn’t even drink coffee and he absolutely loved it! (Oh and it’s all online!)
If it is any castle close by.Have a diner in that style.It is unusual but sort of funn.
Make a digital scrapbook (powerpoint) of photos of the two of you with memories of little things, sayings, places you went.
I’m on an island. So I can’t have anything shipped here, and i am nowhere near a castle :[
@drbill, you’ve got mail.
@judochop, LOL i wish i could.
Down the line, too late now. A girlfriend of mine knitted me a winter scarff. It was wonderful and I still have it and that was 35 years ago.
@Blondesjon you have said what was initially on my mind….haha good one…though I’m sure I’d expect something to that sort or more on a 1 year anniversary night.
Yeah um. That wouldn’t be anything different than the usual.
On our first date, my now-husband and I went to a particular Chinese restaurant. Now we go back to that restaurant every year on the anniversary of our first date. Not very original, but it gets the job done. And I don’t have to cook! :D
@chelseababyy
Yes you do, I was writing it when you looked, sorry, I type slow….
@tits no no no, I’d expect that much sooner than a year…but it’d be a nice night to get it again. but I think a night like a one year would call for something like head right when I wake up or something, it’d be nice.
I do that too often for it to be special lol
@RandomMrdan: It can also be used for one of my ex’s favorite upcoming holidays… Steak and a Blowjob Day!!!! March 14th is less than two months away – everybody get pumped!
Hahaha, March 14th is my 1 year anniversary, how ironic.
So I’m pretty sure I know one thing I’m getting him, if all works out as planned :D :D WOO
Well, tell us what it is!
I doubt anyone knows, but does anyone know Henry Rollins?
For sure, well I emailed him and he emailed me back. He’s signing something for the boyfriend and sending it to me. Pretty awesome.
i think coupon books are a great idea. you can buy those really cheap or you could make it yourself. it should contain things he can redeem from you like “good for one massage” or “good to end one senseless arguement”. OR if that doesn’t work, think about all the stuff he likes and what he needs…something practical is bound to be there. you know what he likes and what he’ll appreciate (a book, a cd, a movie, etc.)
@chelseababyy: That’s so cute and so personalized! I’m sure he’ll love it!
Yeah, the boy actually emailed him first and he responded so I was like hmmmm. And its something noone’s ever gotten him or even thought about getting him. So it’s a win-win situation!
