What the deuce could be wrong with this album?

Asked by queenzboulevard (2553points) January 17th, 2009

I have this Kings of Leon album in my iTunes. It’s called Only By The Night. Kings of Leon was spelled Kings Of Leon, so I changed it to the former. When I did so, the first track is now categorized as a separate album from tracks 2 thru 11. The spelling is the same (capitalization and all), all the track numbers are the same (1 of 11, 2 of 11, etc.). I have checked for extra spaces before and after words, and I can’t find anything different.

I can’t seem to figure out how the sorting is different! What could I be forgetting to check? I have a feeling my mind is passing over some small detail, so I need your help as to what I should be carefully looking at. Here is how iTunes is categorizing the two albums.

Clear all artist-related tags (album artist, etc.) and put in a dummy artist name (like “scratch”). Say OK then come back in and edit the artist name correctly.

Album artist tag?

You probably have an extra space hidden in the tags somewhere, rename them all in a batch and you’ll be fixed!

@PupnTaco I did the same thing, except used Only By The Night, and it wouldn’t change. But when I changed them all to scratch, it put them all together, then I did Only By The Night again and now they’re all together. Thanks!

Another question though: Why did that work?

Call it voodoo.

GQ for “what the deuce.” Thanks for bringing it back into the nom. I’ll be using it! A lot!
