Try pluging the stereo phono plugs into the NAD preamp, and the preamp stereo outputs into the “auxillary” imputs on your Marantz amp. Mind you, you must ground the phono leads, or you’ll get a loud buzz or humm. If you’ve got alternate impedence selections on the preamp, or marantz, try swithching them around too, all to obtain the best and cleanest signal available. Also, keep the volume down until you’ve discovered the best connections. I don’t believe you’ll have any disabling connection, as long as they’re “line level” signals.
Just think of the phono leads as a microphone etc. It’s all related. Best impedence match is what you’re searching for. Cleanest dynamics will provide best results. You never mentioned whether your phono cartridge is a “ceramic” or “moving coil” or “magnetic” type. They are distinguished through the impedence ratings. High = Low. Just make darn sure the phono leads are grounded. Usually 3 leads. Left, Right, Ground. 2 RCA’s and the regular wire, which is the ground one. I’ve even attached the ground wire to the chassis of the preamp. The most common grounding used. { please don’t sue me if it blows up!!} just kidding!! good luck!! Hey, Most audiophiles agree, = Vinyl is far superior to CD’s. get a really great cartridge. it makes all the difference!!

hey thanks for the response vanslonski. i tried doing what you said. ill explain everything in detail..please bear with me haha. okay so my record player (turntable) is a NAD one. and it has a red and white plug (phono leads) and the black plug (grounding wire?) ive plugged the black plug into an electrical socket as per usual.. with the red and white plugs ive placed them into the NAD amplifer into the sockets which are above ‘PHONO’ to their respective colors. then with an RC cable ive plugged it into ‘TAPE IN’ to the respective colors. there is also ‘TAPE OUT’ as well as ‘CD’ and ‘VIDEO’ sockets. the model for the NAD amplifer is ‘stereo reciever 7020e’. then with the other red and white plug ..ive plugged into my marantz(SR4002) aux2. and when i try and run it all i switch the marantz to aux2 mode and toggle between different surround modes .eg. CSII music or CSII mono or stereo etc. i have really big NAD speakers(they work when i watch my dvds) which are plugged into the marantz amp. it may also help to say that my marantz has a seperate preamp section for preamps. but aux2 should be fine as well? ive tried plugging it into the preamp section… and still no sound. my record player is NAD5120. thank you for taking your time to read this!
