Barack Hussein Obama II (pronounced /bəˈrɑːk hʊˈseɪn oʊˈbɑːmə/; born August 4, 1961) is the President-elect of the United States of America, and the first African American to be elected President of the United States. Obama was the junior United States Senator from Illinois from January 3, 2005, until his resignation on November 16, 2008, following his election to the presidency. His term of office as the forty-fourth U.S. president will begin on January 20, 2009.

Obama is a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School, where he was the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review. He worked as a community organizer, and practiced as a civil rights attorney in Chicago before serving three terms in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004. He also taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School from 1992 to 2004. Following an unsuccessful bid for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2000, Obama was elected to the Senate in November 2004. Obama delivered the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in July 2004.

As a member of the Democratic minority in the 109th Congress, Obama helped create legislation to control conventional weapons and to promote greater public accountability in the use of federal funds. He also made official trips to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. During the 110th Congress, he helped create legislation regarding lobbying and electoral fraud, climate change, nuclear terrorism, and care for U.S. military personnel returning from combat assignments in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I think the new president is going to be one hell of a lot better than the abomination that we all suffered with for the last 8 years.

After 8 years of thinking the president didn’t really care about or understand my situation and really only wanted to help him and his friends out. I think Obama gets what it is like to be poor. He has been poor. Bush got a baseball team for a graduation gift(hyperbole). Obama at least admits that he got lucky. Bush got lucky and doesn’t understand why everyone can’t do it.

Oh… Fuck Bush

No thanks, I like boy parts, JP.

The Daily Show did a segment last week about how the two call reporters in press conferences.

Bush :: Stretch too many chicken McNuggets.

Obama :: David Jennings, Rueters.

We finally have a grown up in charge.

edit :: and we can’t forget about this.

He has a lot to live up too at this moment, but he can’t be as much of a let down as our previous president. I try to be positive and find the good in bush’s presidency, but when you look at the end results its difficult. I am just glad I finally have a president who shares my values.

He does have a lot to live up too. And I think he knows it.

I’m sure he doesn’t want to be the first black president that fucks everything up. Bush was lazy and spent most of his time on vacation before 9/11. Obama is probably going to work his ass off from day number one.

Jackie Robinson was pretty good.

Well he has to be better than the last one.
I for one wish him and the rest of you all the best.

I hope he can live up to everything he said in his speeches because for right now he has a huge support within the country and worldwide. If he starts to falter all eyes are on him waiting to pick apart where he went wrong. Already there is backlash for spending $150 million on the ceremony. I just know that there is a difference between saying what you mean and meaning what you say. I sound pessimistic but he does have a whole heap of a mess to get through.

He has a lot of hype to live up to, I hope he can.

For those how think the question was “what do you think of Bush?” Your living in the past, get over it already.

I for one, would rather look to the future.

I do wish everyone would stop talking about color, if we are to be one nation without discrimination we all have to stop the color crap.

So far, I’m all about him. It’s too soon to say what kind of job he will do. I am optimitstic.

I like the rhetoric, I hope the substance plays true to it.

Color, I think that’s funny, he’s half white/half black. Talk about Dr. King’s wish for a blended society.

I also think that the black portion of America will be the ones who are disappointed in Obama’s performance.

He may be the best president in history for anyone but the blacks. Gonna be interesting.

I think he’s a good dose of what the US has needed since Bush was “elected” the first friggin’ time. No other political figure has actually inspired me by their beliefs or ideals in ages, he has inspired and made people have faith that the government can unfuck us for once..that’s impressive. Whether he actually pulls through? Well, we’ll see.

I have friends in Kenya and a daughter in law from West Java, Indonesia.
It’s fun to think both these countries are laying some claim to him.
If he can do better for USA and maybe build some respect for America overseas where relations have become somewhat strained then I hope he can make a go of it.
