Should you be able to respond directly to other Fluther users (ie, send a message) to someone who answers a question of yours?
Especially if the response they gave you was pretty rude and you really want to understand where it came from.

sure. but i sometimes give pretty rude responses, so maybe i'm asking for trouble.
I don't think Fluther should be a forum for personal quips and tiffs. If someone responds to you in a rude way, I would recommend ignoring it and focusing on the positive answers that you receive from others. Maybe, though, there should be a way to report misbehaving members to the administrators.
How about if they gave you a GREAT answer and you'd like to thank them or get expanded info from them??
Exactly, most of the responses have been so positive and helpful...
but then it makes a rude response just feel so jarring...
Anyway I think it'd be cool if each person could have a little message board for questions they ask/respond to
yes! Someone answered one of my questions, and I wanted follow-up information from them so I posted that in my own question, but I think that they're not going to check an old posting that they already responded to and I will never know!
I actually just learned this, after viewing this post a minute ago. If you click on someone's name, you are directed to their profile. On their profile, you can leave a comment. This comment can be public or private. If you mark it private, no one else can see it. Thus you CAN respond :-)
I have a real problem with people who just want to be rude. I cannot stand it when there is no common courtesy. If you don’t like someone’s answer then leave it alone.
I feel like If you have nothing nice to say then don’t say anything at all. PLEASE!
