How do you detect your own dreams?

Everyone has dreams. What if you aren’t aware what yours are? How do you detect them?

If you aren’t aware of them, you wouldn’t be able to detect them no matter how hard you try right? This sounds like the ultimate paradox, sort of.

I agree with Bluefreedom . This question confuses me. What do you mean by detect your dreams???

lucid dreaming?

@ark_a_dong Check the tags.
I think they meant goals in life.

I think if you had any dreams, you’d be quite aware of them.
That isn’t to say that you won’t figure out what to do with your life.
But they’re not always the same thing.

Clarification. Dreams as in what you want to do with your life or what you want to accomplish. Not what you dream at night.

ahaha, I see.

I would say to just try out as many things as you possibly can, e.g. instruments, art, photography, etc. Once you find something you love, just take it from there.

Just having a minimum wage job can help you form career goals by letting you know how shitty the bottom is.

big difference.
I think it just depends on what you like to do. I went into college not “being able to detect my dreams” and didn’t realize what I wanted to do until I graduated. It took some time to get to know myself and that started to happen when I got out into the world (meet people, travel, etc) and started to see all the possibilities. I finally found music and realized that is what Im passionate about, so now Im trying to make a career out of that (which would have been much easier to do if I would have realized this much earlier)

@evanchaney. In that case, you take the time to discover, within yourself, what appeals most to you regarding careers and goals that you want to accomplish. Additionally, you can set long term objectives to begin or enhance things like training, education, and practical experience that you already have, or can obtain, to help you fulfill your dreams. Best of luck to you in these regards.

@scamp. I missed them also. I’m an idiot.

@Bluefreedom I think I may have you beat in that department because…... there’s no fool like an old fool, ha ha!!

@tennesseejac – crap, I graduated half a year ago and still don’t know what my dreams are :P

And I don’t know what I dream at night as well, let alone that I’d be able to do lucid dreaming. Or maybe I do do lucid dreaming but just don’t know I do!

Dreams, that hopefully will mature into goals and life plans, are totally tied in with your passions in life. What are you passionate about? What is it that your friends say (or at least think), “You are always talking about that”? Discover your passions.

What type of book do you read the most? What type of movies to you enjoy? We often identify with characters that are like we want to be, or are in situations that we would be drawn to (fictional or true-life). Huge fan of CSI? Perhaps you could be passionate about justice, or discovering the truth, or science.

Are you drawn to the biographies of certain people? If so, find out why. Perhaps you are drawn to people who could share the same passions as you.

I throw out these thoughts as a quick sketch of a method of self-examination. If you think along these lines, you will probably come up with your own method. Think of discovering your passions as a mystery to solve, or a land to explore, or a house to build, or whatever analogy captures your interest. Your methods of self discovery tell a lot about your character in themselves.

And try out the other ideas in this thread. Who knows what will work the best for you?

No question if for no reason I feel moody. I usuallt can follow it back to a bad dream.
