Is it true that our teeth and body are made in such a way that we are supposed to eat meat? Are we meant to be carnivores or herbivores? I’m asking this because sometimes i feel guilty for eating meat!

I think we are meant for both. We have sharp canine teeth for ripping meat, but we also have molars in the back of our mouth, which are ideal for mashing and grinding up plants. They are flat and rough, not sharp at all.
An carnivore’s teeth are very different. Look in a dog’s mouth…his molars are very sharp and pointy, not ideal for grinding.
We humans are omnivores.
why do you feel guilty are you eating human meat?
Yes, we’re omnivores. It’s a evolutionary advantage.
Yeah, it is really difficult to get the protien our bodys require to build muscle efficiently. Not impossible just really hard and would have been impossible until last couple hundred years. You will notice that vegitarians are not very muscular people typically.
Are we “supposed to eat meat”? No. We have evolved to be able to eat meat, and it has turned out to be largely advantageous. But evolution has no intention one way or the other.
If you’re feeling guilty about eating meat, you can always stop for a while and see if it suits you. There are lots of great books, websites, and other resources out there to support you.
Touche nikipedia. That is well put.

We are designed to eat both meat and veggies. to get proper nutrition we need both. Although there are people who think we should eat one or the other, we are our healthiest eating a balance of both.
As far as your guilt,
if God did not intend us to eat animals, he would not have made the out of meat.
Your at the top of the food chain and dinner is served, enjoy.
Do what feels right to you! I grew up in the south (meat and potatoes…then probably fried and dipped in ranch :), never EVER thought I would see the day of vegetarianism. But lo and behold, I’ve been vegetarian for almost 4 months now and don’t see an end in sight.
Sure, we are made to eat whatever….meat, veggies, fish…in this day and age, we can make anything work. Just look at the ingredients to almost anything you pull off the shelf…dipotassium sulfate? diglycerides? wtf? But it’s your choice. And for those who eat meat, that’s their choice and I respect that. However, I do think many people turn their back on what really happens in the meat industry: www.meat.org . If you can watch that and continue to eat meat, more power to you!
Also, might I add, I took a great Vegetarian cooking class in a local Adult Ed college, which taught me how to balance my diet and find protein w/o all the meat. Might be helpful if you’re thinking about trying it for a little while…
In most modern cultures eating, or not eating, meat is a choice, not an obligation. Our physiology makes that choice possible by virtue of its flexibility; and there is an abundance of non-meat protein sources in every supermarket.
I haven’t eaten meat in 18 years. I don’t spend any more time than most folks plotting my dietary strategy, and I seem to be in better shape than most guys my age.
All I’m trying to say is that people eat meat because they want to eat meat. We’re fooling ourselves by trying to make this choice seem like Nature’s mandate. I think we do that because most of us are, deep down, a bit uncomfortable about meat. Does anyone honestly think that they could watch the entire process by which a steak comes to their table without feeling uncomfortable along the way? That, of course, is why very few of us ever see the entire process. But we don’t have the same qualms about the vegies alongside the steak.
I don’t mean this as a criticism of those who choose to eat meat. Everyone gets to make that choice for themselves. But we owe it to ourselves to be intellectually honest about it.
Nice video by PETA (People Endorsing the Torture of Animals) they are always ready to show only the worst situations of plants being shut down. If you would look at a modern plant you would see a whole different picture, one of clean sanitary plants that will not accept sick or injured animals. But that would not be as dramitic or shocking.
@DrBill I disagree completely. I have been in those modern abattoirs in the course of my work (most recently in Purdue poultry processing), and they are appalling. You are in denial if you think that all meat processing facilities are clean, sanitary, and humane. (And no, I do not support PETA because I think fanaticism in any form is a mistake.)
I’m not seeing any videos posted by the slaughterhouses showing off the process.
