I work with government grants…. If you could be more specific with your question, maybe I can help.
Would you be on the receiving end of the grant or the allocation end? What kind if grant…education, social services, research, etc.?

Oh, awesome. Basically, I’m applying for a position with an NPO that works to get teens involved in service projects and such. It would be on the allocation end, and would involve directly working with a grants coordinator.

I just want to be able to include skills which apply best to the position, like show them that I have exactly what they are looking for…

Skills you will need include:
The ability to plan a program and write clearly about how it should be implemented.
The ability to measure success or failure. (satisfaction surveys, ancedotal experience, etc,). The ability to think outside the box should you need corrective action.
The ability to gather, track, and analyse data.
For services directed at teens, some important buzz words/phrases include “personal responsibility, developing life skills , and community service”. Knowing the “lingo” in this arena is important.

I hope this information helps. If you have other questions I’d be glad to help if I can.
