Can anyone suggest a good Hebrew poem to recite?
I was recruited to participate in the Hebrew section of a poetry recital competition. There are levels 1–5 then native, and I am participating in level 4 (to give you some idea of how complex/long the poem should be). It has to have a minimum of about 20–23 lines, and preferrably not be more than 30 lines.

Tali; Look no further. ^^ Beautiful in translation
Well, I am Catholic, but we are doing “Fiddler on the Roof” play, and There is a song called “Sabbath Prayer” and I love it. It’s a prayer not a poem, 16 lines, and well, no It won’t help, sorry, but I tried :) But it’s a good prayer anyway.
Here it is:
1 May the Lord protect and defend you.
2 May He always shield you from shame.
3 May you come to be
4 In Israel a shining name.
5 May you be like Ruth and like Esther.
6 May you be deserving of praise.
7 Strengthen them, Oh Lord,
8 And keep them from the strangers’ ways.
9 May God bless you and grant you long lives.
10(May the Lord fulfill our Sabbath prayer for you.)
11 May God make you good mothers and wives.
12 (May He send you husbands who will care for you.)
13 May the Lord protect and defend you.
14 May the Lord preserve you from pain.
15 Favor them, Oh Lord, with happiness and peace.
16 Oh, hear our Sabbath prayer. Amen.
Can you make up a poem?
@GAMBIT and @90s_kid, Thank you, but neither are long enough. Has to be a minimum of 20 lines.
Tali; Google GAMBIT’s link. He gave you only the first verse of many. It looked perfect to me. And the original is written in Hebrew.
90’s song from Fiddler is moving but not in Hebrew.
@gailcalled, I think I found the one I’m going to use. It is called לפעמים מתגעגע and it is by Natan Zach.
Any of the Psalms or Song of Solomon are great.
No no no! Use Meir Ariel! He is the best!
