Who here thinks Fluther needs threaded replies?

When I read a question that has been discussed for a long while I get lost in all of the replies.
It would be much easier to keep track of who is replying to whom of there were threaded replies and I would most likely be more apt to read all of the replies to the question if I didn’t have to keep doing mental checks saying, “OK, this person replied to this person, and then that person replied to that person…” and so on.

That defeats the purpose. The purpose is to answer the question the thread starter has asked. But with threaded replies, people are going to talk amongst themselves!
I think i need KISS for myself when dealing with Fluther…
Keep It Simple Stupid!
I think it’s good how it is. Fluther has its own style. You don’t need to turn Fluther into an oldschool web forum.
Edit: Besides, would you want to turn Fluther into FAIL Blog? No pun intended.
I see everyone’s point, but what I don’t like is when people do talk amongst themselves without threading. Its kind of crazy trying to decipher who is talking to who.
I see your point, but having the threads makes things too formal. Besides, how do you handle the case where one person replies to several others. Using threads, the person would have to respond to each individual thread and that spoils the fun.
@justin
Except that format wouldn’t make sense for Fluther. Fluther is a place to ask questions and promote discussion on that topic. Reply threads promote side discussion rather than contribution to the subject at hand.
Not I. I’d rather bear the ills we have than fly to others that we know not of.
@justn <—That’s how you tell who is talking to who.
@Nimis That is quite nice, and should solve most of my issues. Problem is, most people don’t seem to do that.
I think they tend to do it if they are replying to something further up in the thread.
They may decide not to do this when they’d rather address the entire thread or if they are replying to the last comment (like I am now).
Nope. I love it the way it is.
I like it the way it is, too.
@justin
I know, it confuses me because I am like “are you talking to me?” when people don’t do that.
A glitch is that I put ”@justin” after text, and it isnt linked. (I did it on purposeto show you). Sometimes It is, sometimes it isn’t.
I would hate threaded replies. It’s just not what this site is about.
As a side note, I also am not really fond of the @user designation – in my mind it feels like I’m pointing a big finger at the person and explicitly directing my comment to the person. I’m willing to use it when the need arises, but if I’m just bringing up a username for discussion’s sake or to agree with their point, I will not use the @user designation.
@90s_kid That’s because “justin” isn’t a user participating in this thread.
It’s working fine the way it is. Far better than any other site on the webs, may I add.
@Knotmyday I would have to agree. Fluther is the only site of this type that I even have an account on. So, they are definitely doing something right.
oooh I didn’t see that there was no i….That solves the problem >.>
@richardhenry
_[ssedit]: vvv @vinifera7 Maybe that’s where I got it from. Just kidding.
..........................^^ how did I spell your name wrong?
@90s_kid, they’re case-sensitive. Easiest way to get it right is to type the ‘at’ sign or ‘at’ + first character and let the pick list come up (mysteriously, sometimes it doesn’t). Alternatively, copy and paste.
Fluther’s just fine as is!!
POPPYCOCK!!! Threaded replies are hogwash.
i think i just like using those words :P
Balderdash! :D
I never get to say that. :’(
