Are you interested in a video that explains the fifth through tenth dimensions?

Asked by kevbo (25672points) January 26th, 2009

The fourth being time, of course. This video does a decent job (I think) of explaining the ten dimensions referenced in string theory.

Also, the site, in general, is NSFW.

I always kinda thought that’s what it would be like if you could look through God’s eyes.

That’s a pretty cool short video. You might enjoy reading Flatland: A Love Story in Two Dimensions by Edwin Abbott Abbott,1884.

I was just watching this video again yesterday.
I first found it from a Fluther thread too, but not the one above.

Here’s the actual website from the people who made the video:

I saw this Friday and it gave me really weird dreams this weekend.

@Vinifera7 YES! Donnie Darko is one of the best movies ever made.

@richardhenry, I really wanted to see primer. I’ll torrent that.

And on the topic of this video, I love it. But have you ever tried to describe it to someone? It invariably goes from you fumbling to describe it: “it’s like… you fold it and then you can teleport. And then when you think about ALL the teleports…” and then you just give up and tell them to watch the video.

“M” theory dictates eleven, not ten dimensions. Ten isn’t sufficient for a true grand unified theory that includes gravity.

OMG this was predicted in the Book of Spinal Tap. ;-)

@tonedef – The first place I came across this concept was in A Wrinkle In Time by Madeline L’Engle

@fireside
Same here. I loved the Wrinkle in Time series as a kid.

@Vinifera7 – I just found a box of old books recently that i was thinking of rereading.
Good stuff, as i recall.
