Irrational fears and Dental Impressions?

One of my biggest irrational fears is having dental impressions taken. I hate having that huge blob of stuff in my mouth, makes me feel like choking. I need to have upper and lower done and I am freaking out! Any suggestions on how to deal with irrational fears???
