I’m very spontaneous. In fact, i always make sure that I have time for some spontaneity in my schedule.

As long as I plan it in advance, I can be very spontaneous. ;)

i’m pretty much a schedule guy, but i can be pretty flexible

When it comes to making ‘off the cuff’ types of comments like you mentioned, it’s usually always spontaneous with me. I have a sarcastic sense of humor and I have a habit of just throwing something out there to see what happens. The results are good more often than not but I’ve done the ‘speaking first without engaging the brain’ which has led to an awkward moment now and again. I’m only human.

Hey! Let’s all go out right now and get really pissed!

@AstroChuck…Damn I wish you were a woman.

I used to have a reputation for not being the least bit spontaneous, then I filed for divorce and realized it is my ex- husband who isn’t spontaneous! I am all about doing things at the spur of the moment!

I’m pretty friggin spontaneous.
I remember I was hanging out with my best friend at her house one night. It was 10p. She was texting one of our other friends who lives up in Humboldt County (we live in Yolo County) and our friend up in Humboldt said she missed everyone. So my friend goes “What would you say if Allie and I drove up?” and she replied saying that we could crash at her house. So we drove up to Humboldt County that night. We left at 10p and got there around 2:30a. Just a random trip.
My mom and I also decided to drive to Portland one day on our way back from a weekend trip because we saw a sign saying “Portland, Or. ___ miles.” My mom asked if I wanted to go and I didn’t have any other plans… so we went.
Getting my ears pierced the third time was kind of spontaneous. Come to think of it getting my cartilage pierced was spur of the moment too.

Let me think about it, I’ll get back to you.

I’m 50/50 depending on my mood.

Nimis's avatar

Yes, I’m usually flying by the seat of my pants.
Though I’ve started to realize that this can be a bit
stressful to people who aren’t and am trying to balance it out.

basp's avatar

No I am not! Don’t throw me a curve ball. I like to know what’s coming at me.

I am a scheduled spontaneous person. Monday thru Friday, we just have too much going on. Saturday and Sunday – it’s all good. If I’m feeling good – I’m up for anything. Well…just about anything.

I am pretty spontaneous. Less so now that i have kids.

I did pack up and move to CA with $300 no job, no where to live and knowing no one. That was in college.

mangeons's avatar

At some times, yes…

Like when my friend and I were laying in the middle of the street at 10pm for no freaking reason at all.

Bluefreedom's avatar

@mangeons. Were there controlled substances involved? Just wondering. :o)

Darwin's avatar

I have been spontaneous, but only at the spur of the moment.

Does improvisation count as spontaneity? ‘Cause, if it does, I’m very sponteneous. I’ve got it set up so I practically have no schedule, or if I do have one, it’s a surprise to me. I have a beeper set to go off half an hour before a meeting. I never prepare for meetings. I just wing it. Although that’s because I have no idea what people will want from me.

I play music that is completely improvised. No heads at all. I dance in a completely improvisational dance workshop. I hate planning in advance. I just want to do what ever needs to be done at the time. I don’t even have a calendar (I tried it once, but I never looked at it, so what good is that?)

My wife keeps lists. Dozens and dozens of lists. I keep things in my head, and if I forget them, they are gone. We do have two kids, and I can handle their schedules, because they do the same thing every day, and weekends are always the same. If it weren’t for that, I’d probably be wandering in the desert/rain forest/arctic by now.

One time I was heading south on I-65 going home from Nashville TN. I decided I didnt want to go home so I drove all night 8 hours and stopped at a beach close to Pensacola Florida. I smoked a bowl and watched the sunrise. Later that morning I met a guy setting up beach umbrellas. I got him high and he got me a job sitting up umbrellas, beach chairs and renting them out. He let me crash on his couch at his place at night. We partied every night and had a blast. I made cash money everyday and was pretty much a beach bum for a couple of weeks before I went home.

I’ll tell ya’....
I didn’t plan on being here :)

augustlan's avatar

Not very. I can be spontaneous within the confines of my own home, but that’s about it.

I love to be spontaneous!!!!! Nothing is better than coming up with a plan on a lousy lazy afternoon.

When I was younger and didn’t have children, yes! Very spontaneous. One day a friend of mine and I decided to hitchhike from San Luis Obispo, CA to Las Vegas. It took us a day and a half (normally about a nine hour drive). We met a lot of cool truckers.

Now, the only time that I am spontaneous is when we are on vacation.

Jack79's avatar

quite a lot actually, more than anyone else I know anyway

cdwccrn's avatar

not usually, only if its in my daytimer

mangeons's avatar

@Bluefreedom Haha, no. 0 We were just bored, and it was really dark, and a slow, non-busy street, so we were listening to music on my friend’s sister’s friend’s cell phone in the middle of the street.

I want more than anything to have the freedom to practice spontaneity on a regular basis. My life is too planned out… too structured… Unfortunately, there is no room for potential mistake, therefore, no room for random adventure. I feel like I miss out on a lot. Like, right now, I wish I could just buy a plane ticket to Atlanta to go see my SO, whom I haven’t seen in six weeks and steal him away from the girl he took to his frat’s Convivium because I was unable to come due to my strict and demanding schedule. :’(

tiffyandthewall's avatar

i don’t really plan things but i’m not really spontaneous either. i mean. i don’t know, i have spontaneous ideas, but i’m rarely able to go through with them. i think when i get a car though, i’ll act on these ideas more.
