On a scale of one to ten, how would you rate the president's work his first week in office?

Or what letter grade would you give him?

If he signs the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Bill into law today, I give him an A. If he doesn’t, I give him a “What-the-hell-are-you-thinking-just-sign-the-damn-law”. Which is a B-. If he signs it by the end of the week, he can still have an A-.
I mean, we all know he’s going to do it. His blog says he’s going to do it. What is he WAITING for?
10. He’s got the symbolism thing down, knows how to both appear to get to work, and get to work.
10 – I’m pretty happy with the progress so far.
9. Awesome, but there’s always room for improvement.
Ditto @empresspixie. Girl, I feel like you’re my soul twin.
It’ll be a 9 until he signs that act. He really got things going right out of the gate, and one can really only do so much in a week, but he’s really made good on his promises so far.
I’m going Spinal Tap, I’ll give him an 11.
Actually, only thing he has expressed an opinion on so far that I disagree with is the DTV transition, I think people have had plenty of time to get ready for it, and when their screens go blank on the 17th, they’ll have to drag their asses to Wal-Mart and drop a fifty on a converter box. Poor planning on their part does not constitute an emergency on our part, screw em, and I’m surprised Obama thinks we should hold peoples’ hands this much for what is essentially a luxury.
@dp It appears to be set to go ahead despite him.
@dalepetrie, i agree with you – @marina, glad to know that. otherwise i’m pleased so far and remain optimistic about what he will continue to do
I give him a 10. So far, so good, and I have great hopes! But I almost feel it’s unfair rating him so early. It might be more meaningful if asked after 30 or 90 days.
@dalepetrie I guess you must not be one of the three million people who is currently on the waiting list for the government coupon that gets them the required converter box 80% off (the waiting list exists because the government ran out of coupons – I kid you not).
Maybe if the Bush Administration had managed the transition a little better, there wouldn’t be an approximately 6 million households not ready for the switchover. President Obama is right to want to postpone. I think we can all wait another four months to ensure that everyone, including the mostly low-income folks who aren’t ready now, gets to enjoy the new, better, tv.
8. I’m not liking this Geithner dude at all, but that’s my only beef thus far.
@Likeradar: I’m against his reversal of the Mexico City Policy and the > $1 Trillon stimulus package.
The post-thought process of prisoner relocation and the closing of Guantonamo Bay. Shouldn’t we relocate these prisoners and then close it (nobody wants these prisoners)?
I gave him some credit because I think it was important for him to get some things done quickly and he did, unfortunately I just don’t agree with everything he’s doing.
@EmpressPixie I read that he should sign that bill on Thursday… hopefully he still does.
LOL, daloon hijacked the rules and gave a number grade then everyone else followed suit.
EmpressPixie wins for being the only one to answer correctly!
i give his first week a thumbs up.
@Michael – no, I’m not on the list….this is because over a year ago when they started advertising this transition as something that was going to happen on February 17, 2009, I logged onto the website and got my coupons, just like anyone else could have done. No reason we needed to spend $14 or $17 billion or whatever that figure was to do this in the first place. Yeah, OK, I have a satellite dish, I didn’t even USE those coupons, decided I wasn’t going to even try to get over the air signals anymore and why should I waste tax dollars on something I don’t need. But I know not everyone can afford a satellite dish, and that’s OK. Certainly however ow that billions of dollars have been spent to do this thing, there’s no reason we need to spend even more money on it…if that $40 was THAT important to you that you needed to save it or you’d have to live without TV, then you had over a year to figure it out….you should have done so. The whole waiting list thing didn’t even start until THIS MONTH. If at ANY time between I’m thinking late 2006 and the end of 2008 you had taken 5 seconds to get off your ass and request a coupon, you’d have gotten a coupon. Now, on February 17 you either need to spend an extra $40, or get cable or satellite at your own expense…the fact that billions in tax dollars have already been spent when there are still people who can’t afford to EAT should offend EVERY taxpayer, we sure as hell shouldn’t have to extend it for 4 more months and spend billions more. But what’s done is done in regards to what’s been spent…I’m just a bit surprised when what I love so much about Obama is that he says he believes that people don’t expect government to solve all their problems, but they sense that with a slight change in priorities, we can do much better. That doesn’t jive with giving out $80 in coupons to anyone who wants to watch TV, but doesn’t care enough to spend 5 minutes over a year and a half to claim that free money.
@fireside – the asker asked for a “scale of one to ten” OR a “letter grade.” How is that a hijack?
@laureth – I guess I should have gone to bed before I got to this question.
Okay. He signed. He gets an A. (Not even an A-, because he didn’t make me wait too long.)
