” Miles to Light Years = M / 5,877,000,000,000
Light Years to Miles = LY * 5,877,000,000,000 ”
from here
A light year is just the distance traveled by light in a year. The speed of light is 186,000 miles per second. The metric value is easy remember – 300,000 meters per second. To calculate a light year, just multiply by the number of seconds in a year, which is 60 * 60 *24 *365.
Sun is about 93 million miles from earth. That is about 8.3 light minutes, give or take a second. Well-versed=able to do research.
