Do you think that when Obama dies there is going to be a memorial in Washington D.C.

Probably in some form, it’s a bit early for that though don’t you think?
We have memorials plopped down everywhere. It’s not just Jefferson, Lincoln, and Washington. There are hundreds of little ones to the most random things.
It’s only been ten days still, right?
Just checking.
Let’s wait until his career is much further along.
I’d love to see a massive statue of Obama sitting on an office chair blackberry in-hand.
GQ’d coz I thought about this watching his inauguration
That’s what our President calls himself.
This question is a little early for me, too, but I’d give D.C. a maybe (how about Hawaii? how about Illinois? how about Kansas? and—how did he manage to leave California out of his history?) and a big yes on the BlackBerry.
It should be Barack and Michelle with fists together, somewhere in Chicago.
sorry for the spelling error.
I thought he had to give up his BlackBerry?
How about a laptop?
They gave him a new one that is secure and insisted on a short address book (the real A list). The bigger problem is securing the devices of the people he sends messages to. They say it’s mostly for personal use. Joe gets one too.
@blobman, Do you know something we don’t about Obama’s death?
@Jeruba – very cool, i’ve been busy this week and hadn’t heard. thanks
If he’s true Christian he won’t exalt himself in any way but humble himself .
@cage LOL. I actually saw that on FOX. Hilarious!
@seVen that sounds just like Jesus, you know “I AM THE SON OF GOD!!!”
hmmmmm humbling indeed.
@seVen: I just spoke with sIx and eiGht and they’d like you to return to the phalanx immediately.
The other sheep are waiting.
@cage even if Jesus was to exalt himself, which he didn’t but those who witnessed his life/works did , he would still be right to do it since Majesty of his is divine handed to him by God the Father, who said from heavens that he (Jesus) is his son and in him he’s well pleased, listen to him.
@seVen well let’s put it this way then. Supporters of Obama shall exalt him, and shall erect a statue for him.
And please don’t say that’s wrong because that means every statue of anyone anywhere should be taken down because no one should be exalted like god or his son.
LMAO…can someone explain to me what the love doctor on Fox News meant by “fisting”? I mean, I know the sexual term, but is there another definition?
But that picture they showed while she was talking certainly didn’t help with the allusion.
It’s more “yo homie”
than “YOW HONEY!!!”
@KrystaElyse lol, we can be a couple of clueless girls, can’t we! ;)
Every President has a monument-his library and a memorial-his headstone. If you are talking about something along the lines of Lincoln’s or Washington’s in DC, well that won’t be up to us, it will be up to future historians decades after Obamas legacy plays out and political opponents are long gone. We are unlikely in future to go toward imposing, iconic statues or symbols, those are out of fashion.
Look at the FDR memorial near the mall, It is more a park/museum than a glorification of FDR. His statue is at ground level and just 10 feet tall. Posed in a wheelchair Roosevelt looks very accessible instead of towering over and looking down on the capitol.
why shouldn’t he? he’s made history already just by becoming president. i think a memorial would be called for. also, he’s obviously got a lot of people who would not rest until he had a proper memorial.
and @seVen, has no christian president before had some sort of grand memorial? why does obama have to go an extra step to prove how christian he is? i don’t get it, is he supposed to come back after he dies to tell everyone not to honor him after death because he wants to be viewed as humble? maybe i’m missing something.
If President Obama gets a public memorial, it won’t be for his religious affiliation. That is the business of churches not govt. I think what the answer here is that talk of memorials is premature.
