So my closet light dies.

Asked by mrtomservo (87points) October 3rd, 2007

I have a light in my closet (simple, screw in lightbulb type), and the bulb blew out. Not a big deal, right? So I replace the bulb, and the light still doesn’t work. I have a feeling the socket has died somehow. I am electrically stupid. Basically, I know I should probably shut off the breaker and try and fix it. But is it something I should leave to an electrician? Or should I even try figuring it out myself? What would I look for?

when it comes to electricity, if you don’t know what you’re doing, you should call someone who does. Because if you mess up, you might die.

Agreed. Same thing happened to our lightswitch… it needed a new socket, and the electrician did it in maybe 20 minutes.

That’s what I’ll do then. Chuck (the electrician) is a nice guy, too. Thanks!
