Could be a tic.

I had a boss that used to do that and he blinked hard, also. Does that make sense? Not just a quick blink, but almost a closing of the eyes. He had dry eyes.

My son’s friend’s dad does that. He blinks so fast and squeezes them shut so tight! I don’t know why but he is such a fun guy that I don’t really notice it as much, it’s just part of who he is.

The man is suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
