I just saw a Superbowl commercial for Coke where they tried to redo the original commercial where Mean Joe Green gave his jersey to a kid that offered him a Coke.
They tried to put a humorous twist on it but I think it was sacrilege nonetheless. In my opinion, the original was the best and shouldn’t have been messed with.
I know it is just a television commercial but those are my thoughts anyway. How about others here? Any comments on this?

My personal favourite is the Family Guy spoof
I agree though, something like that doesn’t need to be touched.
To be honest it shows me that a company can’t think of anything better.
I mean, come on it’s the superbowl! You have like 4 billion people watching you. Pull your finger out!
Well, the 1980 ad with Mean Joe Greene (note the e) was just placed in the Greatest Super Bowl Commercial Hall of Fame. It’s had a heck of a run. The spoof was better than I expected, but still pretty lame.
I thought most of the commercials were lame this year except the Doritos ads! And the ETrade babies ad.
I didn’t mind it too much. It made me laugh, and reminded me of the old commercial. It was funny and nostalgic.
@Marina- Sorry to nitpick but the Mean Joe Greene Coke ad was from 1979.
@AC Thanks, AC. I did bad math. Of, course if it was 30 years old in 2009, it was from 1979. Dammit, AC, I’m a writer, not a mathmetician!
I just happen to remember when that commercial came out and I hadn’t been with who would soon to be my first wife.
@AstroChuck So, I may be bad at math, but you are old, man!
I was first married in 1980 at just shy of nineteen.
Care to compare birth certificates, Marina?
<< Younger than AstroChuck.
But telling you OM just doesn’t make any sense.
God, I am slow! Naughty boy :/
