Do you think it will be somewhat chaotic like the scare of the year 2000? Do you even believe in the world coming to an end in 2012?

The world isn’t coming to an end until I say it is and that will be long after 2012 so there is nothing to worry about.
The whole 2012 world coming to an end thing is preposterous, in my humble opinion.
I think it will be the same big bust that Y2K was. With luck, the number of people that buy in will be much smaller.
Oh, God! Please! Not another 2012 Mayan calendar end of the world thread!
I think it will be way worse. After watching a documentary on all of the HYPE, it makes you think. I don’t know what to believe anymore really. http://www.history.com/content/armageddon check this site out
President Obama and the world will be celebrating his landslide victory. We will have fresh energy sources, lots of good things to be happy about.
The world’s not going to end in 2012. But if you believe it will, I’ll gladly take all of your possessions and money, since you won’t need it when the world doesn’t exist anymore!
Well the theory behind Y2K was much more plausible than that of the Mayan calendar. Ever think that the Mayans just got bored of counting, i know after thousands of numbers I’d get pretty tired.
Y2K made sense, if the numbers reset to 0 then the computers will get a little confused. Makes a whole lot of sense to me.
@AstroChuck I didn’t know this was a popular thing for Fluther. @joeysefika what about all the others? Its not just a Mayan thing.
@Jamkas Try typing “2012”, “end of the world” or “Mayan calendar” into the search box and you’ll see why this questions elicits widespread groans.
Why would the new years of 2012 be chaotic isnt the world “supposed to end” December 21 2012?
Another big BS- like 1987 2000 and so on…
However- I must say that I have noticed prophesy come true on these dates for a select few due to Darwinism. A self- fulfilling prophesy where the stupidest of the species decides to party and risk take like there is no tomorrow- and not surprisingly for them there is no tomorrow.
It will still be my birthday. Milo will still not make me a cake.
@gc Perhaps by then the identity of cake man will not longer be a secret, and he could step into the breach.
Doubtful. He is using the Moosewood cookbook I gave him recently as a scratching post.
My cats alway make Almond Roca for me.
@syz: Is there nothing sacred? Don’t the people who dream these ideas up have a life?
@syz- What did you think I meant by Almond Roca?
@AstroChuck That’s what made me think of the kitty litter cake.
@gailcalled It’s actually a really tasty cake! (A coworker made one for my recent birthday.) And tootsie rolls warmed in the microwave look disturbingly accurate.
